KiDÓ. / Let's get the anti-bullying tale out into the world!

KiDÓ. is a cinemagraph fairy tale for children aged 6-12 that fights against bullying. We've completely finished the first series. Thanks to you, we would like to make a second series, and then present the whole project to the public at a gala premiere.

For five years, we have been working on a unique tale for children aged 6-12, told in the form of cinemagraphs, which fights against bullying and violence among children. We wanted something for our daughter that was missing in the fairy tale market. Something calm, educational and at the same time visually beautiful with an endearing central character. And so we came up with KiDÓ.

This is our family project, where we not only came up with the story and the main character, but also, together with our small team, we tuned the design of our KiDÓ. font, developed the original merch, which is completely made in the Czech Republic, and art directed the whole project. We have been thinking up the fairy tale and working on it intensively since December 2018, when we found out that we are expecting our little Ema. My lovely wife Maria is mainly behind the production and editing. My name is Matt Dereck Hard and I am behind the story, photography and directing. In addition to my many art projects, I have also created two volumes of a very popular photographic storybook called ZULičníci (The StreetieS). 

Here are some of the rewards we have in store for you! All products are made in the Czech Republic and are of very high quality.

The main storyline of KiDÓ. concerns the struggle between good and evil, in this case the fight against bullying and violence among children. I experienced bullying firsthand in elementary school. I was born with a paralyzed right arm and because I move it in a very uncharacteristic way, I have been bullied several times. But not just because of that. When I was coming out of school, I was often picked on by older boys for small things and robbed of money or spat at. I really wish that the story of KiDÓ. would show children how not to treat each other and also that if you wish too hard for something, it will come true!

Play the first two episodes for your children, or children in your neighbourhood if they are the right age, and they will probably ask you to play the other three. The tale is created in the form of cinemagraphs, which are still photographs enhanced by moving video elements. In our case, everything is supplemented with sounds, spoken word and a custom-made music composed by film music composer Karel Havlicek. The children enjoy a certain interactivity where they look for what is moving in which picture. The first series of five episodes has been completed and can be played in several languages (besides Czech, also English, Spanish or Japanese). As well, they can already play the simple mobile game of the same name (for children aged 4 and up), which is free to download on the AppStore and Google Play.  

With your help, we would like to create another five-part series, which we have now completed on paper. Thanks to you, we would like to make an official release of the project on 22.2.2024, including a gala premiere of all 10 episodes (i.e. both series) in a cinema in the centre of Prague with the participation of the actors, the production crew, the media and the public. Afterwards, all episodes would be free to watch on our website, YouTube and Stream.cz. In addition, we would like to fine-tune four more languages and take our Czech fairy tale to world festivals such as MIPCOM in Cannes and others. And we have already had our first major success with KiDÓ. as it was selected as an official selection of the prestigious Web Series Fest Global 2023 in Hollywood. KiDÓ. is already successfully representing the Czech Republic, Czech fairy tales and Czech art abroad!

The guarantors of the KiDÓ. project are composer Ondřej Brzobohatý, chef Přemek Forejt, YouTuber Martin Hložek aka Creep, singer David Kraus, rapper Sharlota, park rider Jan Hanko, and above all actress Andrea Růžičková, who played the main character's mother. The main character is played by by child actor František Sládek.
