The Box club Žižkov is open to all those interested in boxing, regardless of age, gender and ethnicity. Our lead coach Stanislav Tišer brings together people with different opinions and diverse backgrounds. In our club, there are not only street boys, but also college students and many other people who want to improve physical condition or to make bunch of friends. In September, we want to organize a tournament in Žižkov, where our newcomers will be able to measure their strengths with boxers from other clubs and where they could put their year-long workout into use. Street boys will try to accommodate sport rules.
In addition to the boxing match there will be refreshments and live Roma music!
Box club Žižkov was founded in 1995 by Stanislav Tišer after finishing his professional career. He won the national championship seven times. In 1984, he was training for the Los Angeles Olympics, before the CSSR boycotted it. In his boxing school, Stanislav Tišer began to work with socially difficult teeangers, the street boys. He offered them free boxing classes and awakened their passion for the sport. The Boxing Club soon became well known, and in 2000, Mr. Tišer was awarded the prestigious Fair Play Prize by the Czech Olympic Committee, especially for his long-term work with young people. Since then, the club has repeatedly reached the first places in the chart of national league and was awarded the title of champion in the Czech Republic.
With this project we hope to offer an opportunity for the general public to support young boxers. Those in the tournament will see their hard work being paid off, and understand how rewarding it is to have goals in life. Whoever finances our project can come to our boxing lesson to experience the unique atmosphere of our club or can join us at the tournament and support the boxers here! Boxing is a way to change the fate of some of us who may be disadvantaged. Prove that you care to make a difference in the society by supporting our project!
