The Invisible Exhibition was created 9 years ago in New Town Hall in Prague. Its goal is to introduce visitors to the life of blind people in the form of an interactive tour. An hour in complete darkness changes the perception of space around you and forces you to rely on your other senses. The exhibition leads visitors through a number of specially darkened rooms, where one can experience situations from everyday life. Our blind guides guarantee a safe journey through the dark. They also try to show visitors that the world can be perceived in many different ways, not just with your eyes. We barely survived the first wave of the pandemic. However, the second wave forced us to seek external support so that we can pay rent and the wages.

The Invisible Exhibition has been trying to cross the border that divides the world of blind and sighted people for almost a decade now. A tour in the dark helps visitors understand potential differences in the perception of space and improves awareness of visual impairments. It is an opportunity to obtain relevant information directly from those who face these problems themselves. Our blind guides have the opportunity to share their personal experiences and tell other people how their lives differ, what problems they encounter during their daily lives, but also how they can be helped. At the same time, the exhibition provides visually impaired people with the opportunity of having a proper employment.

Thanks to the feedback from visitors and guides, we know that what we do makes a difference. To not be ashamed to address a person with a white cane on the street, offer help, try some form of volunteering or even a better understanding of life without eyesight - all this is something the visitors can take away from visiting us.

The Invisible Exhibition also organizes educational events outside the New Town Hall building. These events are open to the public and free of charge – for example the White Cane Safety Day.

The main reasons why the Invisible Exhibition deserves help in these difficult times is: a long tradition and high satisfaction of our visitors, spreading awareness about the visually impaired, a unique concept in the Czech Republic, experience with working with children, schools and adolescents and also specialized jobs for those with vision disability.

Unfortunately, the crisis caused by the pandemic has also affected us. The exhibition is empty without visitors and the months of closing have significantly affected us financially. But we do not want to give it up. That is why we need your help. Thank you very much for any financial support!
